Team Cymru Partners with INTERPOL in Coordinated Operation Red Card 2.0
Team Cymru is proud to have contributed to INTERPOL’s Operation Red Card 2.0. This operation, which included law enforcement agencies from 16 African countries, targeted cybercriminals involved in international online scams.
Operation Red Card 2.0, which ran from December 8, 2025 to January 30, 2026, specifically targeted the infrastructure and actors behind high-yield investment scams, mobile money fraud, and fraudulent mobile loan applications. Altogether, this operation led to 651 arrests and the recovery of $4.3 million USD.
Among the interventions carried out as part of the operation were:
- The dismantling of a high-yield investment fraud ring in Nigeria using phishing, identity theft, social engineering, and fake digital asset investment schemes. The takedown involved the removal of over 1,000 fraudulent social media accounts.
- The arrest of 27 individuals in Kenya linked to fraud schemes using messaging apps, social media, and fictitious testimonials to lure victims into making fake investments.
- The arrest of 58 individuals and the seizure of 240 mobile phones, 25 laptops, and over 300 SIM cards in a targeted operation in Côte d’Ivoire against mobile loan fraud.
- The arrest in Nigeria of six members of a sophisticated cybercrime group who had infiltrated the internal platform of a major telecommunications provider.
All together, investigations exposed scams linked to over $45 million USD in losses. Operation Red Card 2.0 involved the seizure of 2,341 devices and the takedown of 1,442 malicious IPs, domains, servers, and other related infrastructure.
How Team Cymru contributed to the INTERPOL operation
As part of Operation Red Card 2.0, Team Cymru leveraged its global internet visibility to contribute to INTERPOL’s investigations and disruptions. By performing NetFlow analysis and using our unique datasets, Team Cymru analysts were able to find additional actor infrastructure and activity related to crypto-related scams.
Operation Red Card 2.0 is the latest INTERPOL operation that Team Cymru has contributed to. Between October and November 2025, Team Cymru worked in close collaboration with INTERPOL as part of Operation Sentinel, targeting business email compromise (BEC) scams, digital extortion, and ransomware.
In November 2024 and August 2025, Team Cymru participated in Operation Serengeti and Operation Serengeti 2.0, which were focused on dismantling fraud rings and human trafficking operations in Africa. This followed close cooperation with INTERPOL in 2023 and 2024, providing infrastructure intelligence, threat validation, and attribution at scale top Operation I and Operation II of the Synergia series.
We are honored to collaborate with international partners in support of our mission statement of saving and improving human lives.
