Training Practice

The Team Cymru Training Practice is dedicated to helping the Internet community better understand the nature and methods of online criminal behaviour and activity and how to combat this.

Team Cymru believes that by achieving such knowledge and understanding, the Internet community be able to act confidently, collaboratively and cooperatively to make the Internet safer.

Team Cymru is committed to expanding its training activities through the establishment of the Training Practice and the development of a structured, ongoing and innovative training program. This program will provide relevant training opportunities and capability growth for the Internet community, particularly in the developing regions.

As the Training Practice develops, new services and facilities will be made available. Information about these are provided on this webpage.

Objectives

The Team Cymru Training practice aims to provide participants with:

• The knowledge, skills, methodologies and confidence to implement effective operational practices in their networks.
• An awareness of the tools, intelligence, services and support that Team Cymru and others make available to the community and the ability to utilise these.

The focus of our training is therefore on:

• Core knowledge: Our training ensures that you understand the key technologies that drive the Internet and also facilitate cyber-criminal activity.
• Flexibility: Our training and courses can be customized to suit our target audience and be appropriate to their needs.
• Relevance: We focus on issues relevant to protecting your clients and your network and ensuring the safety of the Internet as a whole.
• Applicability: Our training is intended to help you acquire and apply the knowledge, skills and resources you need to protect your network.
• Operational Practice: Our training aims to facilitate the implementation of operational practices in your network by providing options and opportunity for the utilization of tools, intelligence, processes and support that Team Cymru and others have developed.

Training Team

Team Cymru is committed to delivering effective and appropriate quality training to the community. So while training is managed and coordinated by the Training Practice, all the organizational resources of the company are available to support this endeavour. That means that the Team Cymru experts, analysts, investigators, researchers and developers are part of this undertaking, and participate by providing material, expert knowledge and instruction. Our training is not outsourced, but developed and delivered by Team Cymru itself.

Courses

Our courses cover a range of topics relevant to Internet technologies, network security, forensics, and operational practices. Training is also provided in the use of the tools and intelligence developed by Team Cymru and in the options available for the utlisation of these.

Course duration can range from a 3 hour tutorial to a full 3 day workshop with extensive hands on exercises. Most courses will incorporate practical training using a virtual environment and real examples are demonstrated and used.

Accreditation

Team Cymru will issue participants in our training with a Certificate of Completion after attending a course. Participants who demonstrate implementation and use of the practices learned in an operational environment will be granted a Certificate of Achievement.
